The 14th annual RugbyTown 7s rolls into Infinity Park on Friday at high noon.
16 teams will take the pitch with their eyes on the title of RugbyTown 7s Cup Champion and the $10,000 grand prize. Simultaneously, All-Army Sports, Department of the Air Force Rugby 7s, All Navy Rugby, All-Coast Guard Rugby, and All-Marine Rugby will compete for the United States Armed Forces title.
The 2026 edition of the RugbyTown 7s will feature two new teams. Usually competing under the SoCal Griffins moniker, Belmont Shore will make their RugbyTown 7s debut with a roster full of players who have a ton of tournament experience.
The other newcomer, NOVA Rugby, is looking to make a splash in its first appearance. NOVA took home the USA Club 7s title in 2025 and was one half away from repeating as champions in 2026.
Of the 16 teams vying for the RugbyTown 7s Cup, only three have hoisted the trophy before. Heat Rugby secured their first title in 2025, while the USA Falcons are looking to add their third RugbyTown 7s Cup to the trophy case. The only team to win three RugbyTown 7s Cups is Denver 7s Selects, who became the first team to do so with their victory in 2024.
Heat Rugby is looking to be the first team to repeat as Cup Champions since the Denver 7s Selects did it in 2015 & 2016. To do so, they’ll have to navigate a tough Pool A that features the Assassins 7s and Wild Dogs, both of which are making their third-straight RugbyTown 7s appearance, and NOVA Rugby.
In Pool B, both Scimitar Storm and the R10 Selects are coming off of successful 2025 RugbyTown 7s campaigns. The R10 Selects defeated the Ramblin’ Jesters to win last year’s Plate, while Scimitar finished in fourth place. Rounding out Pool B are Apache 7s and the N.A. Lions, who squared off in the 2025 Shield Final, with Apache 7s taking silverware home in the clash.
Pool C features tough sides in Belmont Shore, Casanovas, Gorilla Rugby, and NAV 7s. After runner-up finishes in two of the last three years, NAV 7s is looking to finish the job and slap their name on the RugbyTown 7s Cup in 2026. The always competitive Casanovas saw their best finish at the 2024 edition of the tournament, and they surely will be looking for a bounce-back year after an earlier exit in 2025. Gorilla Rugby is also looking for a stronger year in 2026, as their best finish came in 2024 with a Shield championship victory.
Pool D features two former Cup Champions in the Denver 7s Selects and the USA Falcons. They are joined by the Tsunami Barbarians, who have strung together several strong performances in recent years. Tsunami finished in third place in 2025 and second in 2024. The NCR All-Americans are making their second appearance at the RugbyTown 7s in 2026 after filling a vacated spot at the eleventh hour in 2025.
When it comes to the Armed Forces pool, All-Army Sports remains the king of the hill. They defeated the Department of the Air Force Rugby 7s in a tightly contested match in 2024 to claim their fourth straight United States Armed Forces title and 11th overall. All-Marine Rugby 7s claimed the first United States Armed Forces Championship in 2012, and All Navy Rugby won their lone title in 2021. All-Coast Guard Rugby and the Department of the Air Force Rugby 7s are looking to join the club with their first titles in 2026.
