There will be a first-time Cup Champion at the 2026 RugbyTown 7s.
Scimitar Storm, Tsunami Barbarians, R10 Selects, and Casanovas remain in contention for the $10,000 grand prize and the title of RugbyTown 7s Cup Champion.
Tsunami Barbarians won a 26-20 slugfest with NAV 7s in the final match of the night to advance to the Cup semifinals in what was a RugbyTown 7s classic that featured a little bit of everything.
Casanovas punched their ticket to the Cup semifinals by defeating the USA Falcons in one of the best matches of the 2026 RugbyTown 7s. In a back-and-forth match that could’ve gone either way, Casanovas made the late play to score the try that knotted things up at 33 points apiece. They drilled the ensuing conversion to win the match and earn a spot against the R10 Selects in the Cup semifinal on Sunday.
NOVA Rugby, perhaps the hottest team of the tournament thus far, ran into a buzzsaw in the Scimitar Storm. After handing Assassins 7s a convincing 41-0 loss to close out pool play, it appeared as if NOVA Rugby was destined for an appearance in the Cup semifinals until Scimitar Storm dealt them a 24-5 loss. Scimitar Storm’s performance came on the back of a 34-0 rout at the hands of the R10 Selects earlier in the day.
The red-hot R10 Selects brought their A-game on Saturday. After handling Scimitar Storm, they handed Assassins their second loss of the day by a score of 27-10 in the Cup quarterfinals. R10 Selects will square off against Casanovas on Sunday afternoon.
In the U.S. Armed Forces bracket, All-Coast Guard Rugby stands between All-Army Sports and their 12th title. All-Army Sports steamrolled their way through the bracket to a 4-0 record and +88 point differential to put themselves in the position to win their fifth straight title and 12th overall. If All-Coast Guard Rugby can pull off the upset, it will be their first-ever U.S. Armed Forces title.
In the Plate bracket, Assassins 7s will face off against the USA Falcons, while NOVA Rugby will lock horns with NAV 7s as all four teams attempt to finish off strong tournaments on the right foot.
Heat Rugby, last year’s Cup Champions, finished pool play with a 0-3 record, but that doesn’t tell the whole story of their 2026 campaign. Despite going winless in pool play, Heat Rugby had a -11 point differential with losses decided by three points, five points, and three points, respectively. Their first win of the tournament came in the Bowl quarterfinal, which means Heat has a chance to leave RugbyTown 7s with some silverware. They’ll square off against a tough Belmont Shore team who were competitive in every match they played.
On the other side of the Bowl bracket, Wild Dogs will square off against Gorilla Rugby, who defeated Denver 7s Selects 21-12 to punch their ticket. Wild Dogs beat Assassins 7s to win the Bowl in 2025.
Getting things started early on Sunday in the Shield bracket, Apache 7s will take on RugbyTown 7s regulars in the Denver 7s Selects, while the N.A. Lions will square off against the NCR All-Americans. Apache 7s defeated the N.A. Lions in the 2025 RugbyTown 7s Shield Final.
